Why RO Water Needs a Mineral Cartridge
An RO membrane removes most of the dissolved salts from water. That’s what makes RO water pure, but it also means the water comes out with very little mineral content left in it.
The mineral cartridge adds minerals back after purification. Your RO plant still does the full job of reducing TDS and salts, and the mineral stage then puts minerals back into the clean water at the end.
Where the Mineral Cartridge Fits
The mineral cartridge is a post filter, so it always goes after the RO membrane. It’s an inline cartridge that connects in the water line rather than sitting in a 10 inch housing.
The stages after the membrane are flexible and can be chosen according to your water and what you need. The mineral cartridge can be used in:
- A 6 stage RO plant: often as the last stage after the post carbon
- A 7 or 8 stage RO plant: alongside other post filters such as Nano Silver or alkaline
The first four stages stay the same in every plant: PPF, GAC, CTO, then the RO membrane.

When to Replace Your Mineral Cartridge
Like every cartridge after the RO membrane, the mineral cartridge lasts one year at most. After that, it can no longer add minerals properly, even if water still flows through it.
The simplest way to stay on schedule is to change it once a year together with your other post filters and the RO membrane. Our filter replacement deals include the mineral cartridge with everything else:

Your pre-filters need changing far more often. From our field experience, change the PPF filter every 15–30 days and the GAC and CTO every 3 months at most.
