Commercial Water Filter

A commercial water filter handles water for a whole building rather than a single tap. These are jumbo systems built on 20-inch big blue housings, sized for premises where a large number of people are using the water every day, or where a full property needs filtering from the main line.

Who Needs a Jumbo Filter?

Jumbo systems are the largest of our non-electric filters, and they suit two situations.

Whole house filtration on larger properties. If your house is 10 marla or bigger, a single filter at the kitchen tap does not cover it. A jumbo system installed on the main line filters everything — drinking, cooking, bathing, washing and the water reaching your appliances.

Commercial and institutional premises. Large madrassas, schools and colleges, police lines, large offices and factories. Anywhere a substantial number of people draw water daily and a smaller system would be replaced constantly.

If your requirement is smaller — a restaurant, a shop, a masjid, a small factory with 10 to 20 people drinking — our semi commercial water filters are the right size and considerably cheaper.

With Stand or Without?

Both versions use identical filtration. The difference is mounting.

Without stand — mounted on a wall. Suitable where you have solid wall space near the main line and the installation is permanent.

With stand — supplied with a floor frame. Easier on commercial premises where wall mounting is impractical, where the unit needs to sit near a tank or pump room, or where it may be relocated later. Also simpler for maintenance staff to access when changing cartridges.

For institutional installations we generally recommend the stand version. Cartridge changes are frequent enough that easy access matters.

Filter Stages

Jumbo systems use the same stage configurations as our domestic and slim filters. Only the housing size changes.

PPF + PPF + CTO for water carrying heavy sediment — boring water, tank supply, or any line where dirt is the main problem. Two sediment stages in series, the second finer than the first, followed by a compressed carbon block.

PPF + GAC + CTO for clearer supply with a taste or odour problem. One sediment stage, then granular carbon for bulk chlorine removal, then a carbon block to polish.

The 2 stage systems run sediment followed by carbon. The single jumbo runs one stage and is commonly used as a pre-filter ahead of an RO plant or as a main-line sediment filter.

Why We Don’t Quote Output in Litres

You will see litres-per-hour figures advertised for non-electric filters. For this type of system that number is not meaningful, and we would rather explain why than print one.

A non-electric filter runs on whatever pressure reaches it. Output depends entirely on how the water is drawn. Open the line fully and more water comes through, but it has spent less time inside the housing being filtered. Draw it slowly and less comes through, but it is properly processed. The filtration happens while water sits in the housings — there is no fixed rate the filter itself controls.

So instead of quoting a figure that changes with your plumbing, we ask about your premises, the number of people, and how the water is used, then recommend accordingly. Send us those details on WhatsApp and we will size it honestly.

Important: Use Normal Tank Pressure

This matters most on commercial installations, because the pressure available is often higher.

Run the filter on normal pressure from your overhead tank. Do not connect it directly to a pump line or high-pressure supply. Water forced through the housings at speed passes too quickly to be filtered properly — you get volume, not clean water.

Where a pump is part of the system, install the filter downstream of the tank rather than off the pump outlet. If you are unsure how your line is configured, describe it to us before installation.

Cartridge Replacement

Cartridge life on jumbo systems is the same as on smaller filters. The housings are larger, but so is the volume of water passing through them.

PPF sediment cartridges — 15 to 30 days, depending on how much dust and sediment your water carries. Check the housings and replace as soon as the cartridge looks fully dirty. A clogged sediment stage stops protecting the carbon behind it, and the carbon then wears out early.

GAC and CTO carbon cartridges — 3 months maximum. Once carbon is exhausted it can release what it has collected back into the water, which is why an overdue cartridge causes a smell.

On institutional and commercial premises, put this on a maintenance schedule rather than leaving it to whoever notices. Replacement cartridges are available from our commercial filters and cartridges section.

If the System Has Been Left Unused

Filters left standing fail in two ways. If water sat in the housings, it goes stagnant and develops a smell that carries into everything drawn afterwards. If the housings were left empty, the cartridges dry out and stop filtering properly even though they look normal.

In both cases, remove all cartridges and fit new ones before restarting. This applies to schools and colleges over long holidays, seasonal factories, and any premises that closes for an extended period. Before a long closure, open the housings and take the cartridges out.

What is a jumbo water filter?

How many litres per hour does it produce?

There is no fixed figure for a non-electric filter. Output depends on line pressure and how the water is drawn, and running it fast means less filtration. Tell us your premises and usage and we will recommend a system rather than quote a number that changes with your plumbing.

What is the difference between the versions with and without a stand?

Filtration is identical. Without a stand the unit mounts on a wall; with a stand it sits on a floor frame. The stand version is easier to install and service on commercial premises, which is why we usually recommend it for institutional use.

Can I connect it directly to my water pump?

No. Run it on normal pressure from the overhead tank. High pressure from a pump line pushes water through too fast to be filtered properly. Install downstream of the tank.

How often do cartridges need changing?

PPF sediment cartridges every 15 to 30 days depending on your water. GAC and CTO carbon cartridges up to 3 months. The larger housing does not extend cartridge life, because the water volume passing through is larger too.

Why does the water smell?

Either the carbon cartridge is exhausted, or water sat in the housings during a period without use and went stagnant. Both need new cartridges. Check the PPF as well, since a clogged sediment stage usually wears the carbon out early.

Does a jumbo filter remove TDS or hardness?

No. Sediment and carbon filtration improves clarity, taste and odour. It does not reduce dissolved salts or water hardness. For salty or brackish water you need a commercial RO plant. For hardness and scaling you need a softener.

Can I use a jumbo filter before an RO plant?

Yes, and it is a common setup. A single or dual-stage jumbo works well as pre-treatment ahead of a commercial RO plant, taking the sediment load off the membranes and extending their life.
