75, 100, 120 or 150 GPD – Which Domestic Membrane Do You Need?
GPD means gallons per day: the amount of RO water a membrane is rated to produce in 24 hours under test conditions. A higher GPD fills your RO tank faster and gives more water through the day.

Actual output in your home is lower than the rated figure when the water has high TDS, low pressure or low temperature. The best rule is to replace your membrane with the same GPD your RO plant was designed for, unless your plant’s pump can support a higher one. If you’re not sure, bring your old membrane or a photo of your plant to any Axtron branch.

High TDS Bore Water – Choose the Right Home Membrane
Many homes in Multan, Bahawalpur and across South Punjab run their RO plant on bore water with high TDS and hardness. A standard membrane on very salty water wears out sooner. In our experience, RTL membranes can work on raw water up to around 5,000 TDS, which makes the RTL high TDS membrane a practical choice for these areas.

When Should You Replace Your Home RO Membrane?
Under standard water conditions, with standard use and timely filter changes, a domestic membrane usually works for up to about 1 year. This is not a fixed life. High TDS, hardness, rust, dust and heavy daily use shorten it. A new membrane brings your RO plant back to its original water flow and taste.
Common signs that your membrane needs changing:
- RO water output has become noticeably slow
- The TDS of your RO water has gone up
- The taste of the water has changed even after a filter change
Pre-Filters Decide How Long Your Membrane Lasts
The membrane is protected by the filters in front of it. From our field experience:
- PPF sediment filter: change every 15–30 days, or when it turns fully brown or dark
- GAC and CTO carbon filters: change every 3 months at most
- Post-membrane cartridges (post carbon, mineral, alkaline and others): change every 1 year at most, the same time as the membrane
If a home RO plant runs without a serviced PPF on rusty or muddy water, a new membrane can choke within days. All pre-filters and post-filters are available under domestic filters.

Most home RO plants in Pakistan use a 75 to 150 GPD domestic membrane in the standard domestic size. The 100 GPD RO membrane is the most common choice.
Can I put a 150 GPD membrane in place of a 100 GPD?
Only if your RO plant’s pump can support it. The safest choice is the same GPD your plant was built for. Bring your plant details or old membrane to our shop and we’ll confirm.
