RTL 120 GPD High-Power RO Membrane — More Power, More Pure Water, Same High TDS Capability
When a standard 100 GPD RO membrane is not producing enough purified water for your household or light commercial need — but you are not yet ready for a full commercial system — the RTL HR2012-120 is the answer. At 120 GPD, it produces approximately 454 litres of purified water per day under standard conditions, which is 20% more output than a 100 GPD element. For a larger family home, a small office, a mosque, a school water cooler, or a small food business that needs continuous clean water supply, this increased capacity makes a measurable daily difference.
Like the entire RTL HR series, the HR2012-120 is specifically engineered for high TDS feed water up to 5000 ppm — making it the correct choice for Pakistan's most challenging water conditions in Multan, Bahawalpur, Karachi, D.G. Khan, and Sukkur, where standard membranes underperform and wear out faster.
RTL HR2012-120 is currently the only NSF-certified 120 GPD RO membrane available in Pakistan. No other 120 GPD option in the market carries NSF/ANSI Standard 58 certification — making this the sole verified-performance choice at this capacity.
Understanding the 2012 Format — Why Compatibility Matters
The model number HR2012-120 encodes the membrane's physical dimensions: 2012 means 2.0 inch diameter × 12 inch length. This is different from the standard 1812 format (1.8 inch × 12 inch) used in most basic 100 GPD domestic RO plants.
Here is how to quickly check your membrane housing format:
- Method 1 — Check the label on your existing membrane. It will say 1812 or 2012 (or the full dimensions like 1.8" × 12" or 2.0" × 12").
- Method 2 — Check the specification label on your RO plant unit — it lists the membrane format.
- Method 3 — Measure the membrane housing canister diameter. A 1812 housing has an internal diameter of approximately 2 inches outer housing. A 2012 housing is slightly larger.
- Method 4 — Contact Axtron Pakistan via WhatsApp with a photo of your RO plant label. We will confirm compatibility before you order.

Who Should Buy the RTL HR2012-120?
- Larger Family Homes (8–12 people) — A standard 100 GPD system may struggle to meet the drinking water needs of a larger household, especially in summer when consumption increases. The 120 GPD element gives the same system 20% more daily output without upgrading the entire RO unit.
- Small Offices and Workplaces — An office with 15–25 employees needs more purified water than a typical home RO plant provides. The 120 GPD capacity bridges the gap between domestic and commercial RO systems.
- Mosques and Community Centres — Shared water dispensers used by a congregation or community benefit from higher-capacity membranes to maintain consistent supply through peak usage periods.
- Small Food and Beverage Businesses — Cafes, juice stalls, small restaurants, and bakeries that use purified water for food preparation need a higher output than a basic 100 GPD domestic membrane provides.
- Schools and Clinics — Environments where water is consumed throughout the day by a variable number of people. The 120 GPD capacity ensures the storage tank stays full.
- Existing 120 GPD RO Plant Owners — If your RO plant is rated at 120 GPD and needs a membrane replacement, the RTL HR2012-120 is the direct replacement element.
Performance in Pakistan's High TDS Water Conditions
Pakistan's water quality varies dramatically across regions, and the RTL HR series is engineered to handle the full range. Here is how the HR2012-120 performs in Pakistan's most challenging water areas:
| City / Region | Typical TDS (ppm) | HR2012-120 Performance | Standard Membrane Performance |

Step 1: Shut off the feed water supply completely. Open the RO faucet to release all pressure from the system before touching any housing.
Step 2: Locate the membrane housing — the tallest cylindrical canister in your RO unit. For a 120 GPD system, this will be a 2012-format housing (slightly larger than standard 1812 housings).
Step 3: Use a membrane wrench to unscrew the housing cap. Remove the old membrane element and dispose of it.
Step 4: Remove the RTL HR2012-120 from its packaging. Verify the two black O-rings on the end cap are correctly seated in their grooves. Apply a small amount of clean water to the O-rings for lubrication.
Step 5: Insert the membrane into the housing with the correct flow direction — the brine end (with the single port) goes in first. Follow the FLOW arrow on the RTL label.
Step 6: Replace and firmly tighten the housing cap. Restore feed water supply. Check all housing connections for leaks.
Step 7: Run the system for 30–60 minutes and discard the initial output. This flushes manufacturing preservatives and conditions the membrane for drinking water production.

Q: Will the HR2012-120 fit my standard domestic RO plant?
A: Only if your RO plant is a 120 GPD system with a 2012 membrane housing (2.0 inch diameter). Most standard home RO plants in Pakistan are 100 GPD with a 1812 housing (1.8 inch diameter) — these will NOT fit the HR2012-120. Check your existing membrane label or the sticker on your RO unit before ordering. If your system is 100 GPD, you need the RTL HR1812-100 instead. If you are unsure, contact Axtron Pakistan via WhatsApp with a photo of your RO plant.
Q: What is the practical difference between 100 GPD and 120 GPD daily?
A: A 100 GPD membrane produces approximately 380 litres per day. A 120 GPD membrane produces approximately 454 litres per day. That is roughly 74 extra litres of purified water every 24 hours — enough to make a real difference for a large family, a small office, or any setting where the RO storage tank runs low before the day ends. The 120 GPD is the right choice when your 100 GPD system is not keeping up with your water consumption.
Q: Can the HR2012-120 handle Multan or Bahawalpur groundwater above 1500 ppm?
A: Yes. The HR2012-120 is rated for feed water up to 5000 ppm TDS. Multan and Bahawalpur groundwater typically reads 1000–2500 ppm, well within the HR series' operating range. The 99% salt rejection rate is maintained consistently even at these high TDS levels, which is why the RTL HR series is the correct specification for Pakistan's hard water regions.
Q: How often should I replace the 120 GPD RTL membrane?
A: Replacement is recommended every 12–18 months under normal use in Pakistan's high TDS conditions. Monthly TDS monitoring is the most accurate method — check both your input water and the RO output. If output TDS rises above 50 ppm, or the rejection rate drops below 90% of your baseline reading, replace the membrane. Use any TDS meter from Axtron's water testing range for monitoring. Consistent monitoring extends membrane life by catching issues early.
Q: Is there a 150 GPD RTL membrane if I need even more output?
A: Yes. Axtron Pakistan stocks the RTL 150 GPD membrane as well. The RTL range available at Axtron Pakistan includes 100 GPD, 120 GPD, 200 GPD, 300 GPD, and 400 GPD.
