Why These Quantities: 6, 2 and 2
The numbers come straight from how long each cartridge lasts in real use, based on our field experience:
- PPF lasts 15–30 days. It stops all the dust, rust, sand and mud, so it fills up fastest. Six months means 6 PPF, one per month.
- GAC and CTO last 3 months at most. After that the carbon stops working and the water starts to smell. Six months is two 3-month cycles, so you need 2 GAC and 2 CTO.
Don’t stretch a GAC or CTO to six months to save money. Old carbon is one of the most common reasons customers complain of smelly water from an RO plant.

The PPF timing is a guide. If the PPF turns fully brown or dark before the month is up, change it early. With heavy mud in boring water, that can be every 15 days. A transparent 10 inch housing lets you see when it’s time.

What Each Filter Does
- PPF sediment filter (stage 1): traps dust, rust, sand and mud.
- GAC carbon filter (stage 2): removes smell and improves taste.
- CTO carbon block filter (stage 3): further removes smell and protects the membrane before water enters it.
Together they protect your RO membrane, which does the main purification and reduces TDS. Keeping these three stages fresh is the single biggest factor in how long a membrane lasts.
Will This RO Filter Set Fit My Plant?
Yes. All ten cartridges are standard 10 inch size and fit every domestic RO plant and every 3-stage water filter with 10 inch housings in Pakistan, whatever the brand.
- RO plants: the set covers stages 1–3. The membrane and post filters are changed once a year with our 6 stage, 7 stage or 8 stage replacement deals.
- 3-stage water filters: PPF + GAC + CTO is the standard setup for clear water with taste or smell problems.
Storing and Using the Spare Cartridges
- Keep the spare cartridges sealed in their packing until you fit them.
- If your RO plant or filter is left unused for a while, replace all cartridges before switching it back on. Standing water in the housings goes stale and starts to smell, and empty housings dry the cartridges out.
- Non-electric water filters: run them on normal overhead tank pressure. Never connect directly to a motor or pump line.
- Very hard water? A cation resin cartridge in an extra housing helps protect the membrane from hardness.
