So Pure PPF Sediment Filter Cartridge – 5 Micron 10 Inch Pre-Filter for RO Water Filter in Pakistan

So Pure PPF Sediment Filter Cartridge 5 Micron for RO Water Filters

The So Pure PPF sediment filter cartridge 5 micron is a 10 inch polypropylene pre-filter for the 1st stage of a domestic RO water filter. It is the first cartridge water meets when it enters the plant. It stops rust, sand, silt and suspended dirt so that the carbon filters and the RO membrane after it stay clean and work properly.

So Pure is a China-made brand that Axtron Pakistan supplies alongside the Axtron, Classic Pure and Hi-Tech ranges. This is the 5 micron, 100 gram cartridge, the coarsest grade in the So Pure PPF range. It is a standard 10 inch size, so it fits almost every domestic RO plant in Pakistan, whatever the brand.

The So Pure PPF Range – Choose the Right Grade

So Pure PPFs come in three weights. All three are 10 inch, made in China, and fit the same housing.

A heavier PPF has more polypropylene fibre packed into the same 10 inch size, which gives finer filtration. The 5 micron grade is the lightest and most open of the three.

What 5 Micron Means

A micron is one-thousandth of a millimetre. A 5 micron PPF stops sand, rust flakes, silt and visible dirt. It lets water pass more freely than a 1 or 0.3 micron PPF. The trade-off is that very fine particles can pass through it, so the 1 micron or 0.3 micron grade gives the membrane more protection.

When to Choose 5 Micron

• Your water carries a lot of sand or mud and a finer PPF chokes too quickly.
• You want a lower-cost PPF for the monthly change.

Where the water is fairly clean, the 1 micron or 0.3 micron So Pure grade gives the membrane better protection.

What Is Printed on the So Pure PPF Label

These details come directly from the product label:

• Product: PPF sediment filter, 5 micron
• Removes rust, sand, silt, sediment and other suspended impurities
• 100% polypropylene
• Excellent micro-organism resistance
• True graded density: higher dirt-holding capacity and longer life
• Higher flow rates with low pressure drop
• Economical
• Environmentally safe
• For standard filter housings
• Markings printed on the label: NSF and Water Quality Association logos

What “True Graded Density” Means

The polypropylene fibre is packed loosely on the outside and tighter towards the centre. Bigger particles are caught in the outer layers and finer dirt in the inner layers. The whole depth of the cartridge is used, not just its surface.

Where the So Pure PPF Sits in Your RO Plant

1. PPF sediment filter (this product): removes rust, sand, silt and suspended dirt.
2. GAC filter: removes most of the chlorine and smell.
3. CTO carbon block: a second carbon stage before the membrane.
4. RO membrane: the main purification stage.
5. Post-membrane stages: post carbon, mineral, nano silver, alkaline or others. These can be changed or rearranged to suit your water quality and needs.

A PPF catches particles only. It does not remove chlorine, smell or dissolved salts. That work is done by the carbon stages and the membrane.

So Pure 5 Micron vs Other 5 Micron Filters at Axtron

All three are 10 inch and fit the same housing. For finer filtration, see the 180 gram Axtron Vietnam 0.3 micron PPF.

When to Replace the So Pure PPF

From our field experience servicing RO plants:

• Change the PPF every 15–30 days, or as soon as it turns fully brown or dark. In muddy water areas this can be sooner.
• A late PPF change costs more. Dirt passes into the GAC and CTO and clogs them early, water flow drops, and the RO membrane life is shortened.
• Change the GAC and CTO every 3 months at most. Old carbon can make the water smell.
• RO plant left unused for some time? Replace all cartridges before using it again. Stale water inside the housings causes smell, and dried cartridges don’t perform properly.

Fresh pre-filters on time help the RO membrane last its normal life of about 1 year. Late pre-filter changes, high TDS and long running hours shorten it.

How to Replace the PPF

1. Close the water inlet and switch off the RO plant.
2. Open the faucet to release pressure.
3. Unscrew the 1st stage housing with a housing spanner.
4. Remove the old cartridge and wash the inside of the housing.
5. Check that the O-ring is seated properly, then fit the new So Pure PPF.
6. Tighten the housing, open the water, and check for leaks.

Who Should Use the So Pure 5 Micron PPF

• Homes with a domestic RO plant that uses standard 10 inch housings
• Homes on bore water or supply water that carries a lot of sand, mud or silt
• Homes with old iron pipelines that release rust flakes
• Anyone who wants a lower-cost PPF for the monthly change

A sediment filter does not reduce hardness. In areas with very hard bore water, such as many parts of Multan and South Punjab, ask us about adding a cation resin softening cartridge to protect the membrane.

For a full 3-month change in one order, see the Axtron RO filter set for 3 months or the Classic Pure RO filter set. All cartridges are listed under domestic filters.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the So Pure 5 micron PPF sediment filter remove?

As printed on the label, it removes rust, sand, silt, sediment and other suspended impurities. It does not remove chlorine, smell or dissolved salts.

What are the So Pure 5 micron PPF specifications?

It is a 5 micron, 100 gram, 10 inch PPF made of 100% polypropylene, made in China.

Does So Pure PPF come in other grades?

Yes. So Pure PPFs come in 160 grams (0.3 micron), 130 grams (1 micron) and 100 grams (5 micron, this product). All three are 10 inch and fit the same housing.

Is 5 micron good enough for my RO plant?

It works well where the water carries a lot of sand and mud, because it doesn’t choke as quickly. Where the water is fairly clean, a 1 micron or 0.3 micron PPF gives the membrane better protection.

How often should I change the So Pure 5 micron PPF?

Every 15–30 days, or as soon as it turns fully brown or dark.

Will it fit my RO plant?

Yes, if your RO plant uses standard 10 inch housings, as almost all domestic RO plants in Pakistan do.

Where can I buy the 5 micron sediment filter in Multan?
