Classic Pure Taiwan Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) Filter for RO Water Filters
The Classic Pure Taiwan granular activated carbon filter is a 10 inch, 2nd stage cartridge for domestic RO water filters. It sits right after the sediment filter. Its job is to take chlorine, smell and bad taste out of the water before it reaches the carbon block and the RO membrane.
Classic Pure is the second brand from Axtron Pakistan, made in Taiwan. It is priced lower than our main Axtron Vietnam GAC filter and suits households that want a dependable replacement at a lower cost. It fits every standard 10 inch housing, so it works in almost every domestic RO plant sold in Pakistan, whatever the brand.
What Is Printed on the Classic Pure GAC Label
These details come directly from the product label:
- Brand: Classic Pure
- Filter name on label: UDF Filter
- Stage: Stage 2
- Filter media: Granular Activated Carbon
- Purpose (as printed): reduces heavy chlorine and chemical by-products such as chloroform, THM and TCE
- Country of manufacture: Made in Taiwan
- Label warning: do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe
“UDF” is the trade name many suppliers use for loose granular carbon cartridges. It is the same type of filter you may know as a GAC filter.
Why the Warning Matters
Activated carbon improves taste and smell. It does not disinfect water. In an RO plant, the RO membrane and the post-membrane stages do the purification work. The GAC filter’s role is to prepare and protect that process.
Why the 2nd Stage Matters in an RO Plant
Most domestic RO plants in Pakistan use this order:
- PPF sediment filter: removes sand, rust and dirt.
- GAC filter (this product): removes chlorine, smell and taste.
- CTO carbon block: a second, finer carbon stage for remaining chlorine and odour.
- RO membrane: the main purification stage.
- Post-membrane stages: post carbon, mineral, nano silver, alkaline or others. These can be changed or rearranged to suit your water quality and needs.
Chlorine damages the thin-film RO membrane over time. A fresh GAC filter at stage 2, backed by the CTO at stage 3, keeps chlorine away from the membrane and helps it last its normal life.
GAC vs CTO – Why You Need Both
GAC is loose carbon granules. Water passes through it quickly and most of the chlorine and smell is removed here. CTO is carbon compressed into a solid block, giving a finer second pass. Together they give the membrane much better protection than either one alone.

When to Replace Your GAC Filter
From our field experience servicing RO plants:
- Replace the GAC filter every 3 months at most. After that the carbon is used up, and old carbon can start giving the water a smell.
- Change the PPF sediment filter every 15–30 days, or when it turns fully brown or dark. A late PPF change lets dirt reach the GAC and shortens its life.
- Replace the CTO at the same time. It follows the same 3-month cycle.
- RO plant left unused for a while? Replace all cartridges before using it again. Stale water inside the housings causes smell, and dried-out cartridges do not perform properly.
How to Replace the GAC Filter
- Close the water inlet and switch off the RO plant.
- Open the faucet to release pressure.
- Unscrew the 2nd stage housing with a housing spanner.
- Remove the old cartridge and wash the inside of the housing.
- Check that the O-ring is seated properly, then fit the new Classic Pure GAC cartridge.
- Tighten the housing, open the water, and let the first water run to drain until it comes out clear.
Who Should Use the Classic Pure GAC Filter
- Homes on a municipal supply where the tap water smells of chlorine
- Homes on bore water with a smell or bad taste
- Households that want a lower-cost replacement for their regular 3-month service
- Any domestic RO plant with a standard 10 inch housing at stage 2
GAC does not reduce hardness. In areas with very hard bore water, such as many parts of Multan and South Punjab, ask us about adding a cation resin softening cartridge to protect the membrane.
Complete Your Classic Pure Pre-Filter Set
For a full Classic Pure 3-stage pre-filter change, pair this GAC with the Classic Pure PPF sediment filter at stage 1 and the Classic Pure Taiwan CTO carbon block at stage 3. For after the membrane, see the Classic Pure mineral water filter cartridge.
If you prefer the Axtron Vietnam range, the Axtron RO filter set for 3 months and the 6 month set cover your PPF, GAC and CTO in one order. All cartridges are listed under domestic filters.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Classic Pure Taiwan granular activated carbon filter used for?
It is the 2nd stage filter in an RO plant. It reduces chlorine, smell and bad taste. The label also lists chemical by-products such as chloroform, THM and TCE. It protects the CTO and the RO membrane that come after it.
Why does the label say “UDF Filter”?
UDF is the trade name many suppliers use for loose granular carbon cartridges. It is the same type of filter as a GAC filter.
Will it fit my RO plant?
Yes, if your RO plant uses standard 10 inch housings, as almost all domestic RO plants in Pakistan do.
How often should I change the GAC filter?
Every 3 months at most. Old carbon stops removing chlorine and can give the water a smell. Change the PPF every 15–30 days so the GAC is not clogged early.
What is the difference between Classic Pure and Axtron GAC filters?
Classic Pure is our second brand, made in Taiwan, and is lower in price and quality. The Axtron GAC is made in Vietnam and is our higher-grade cartridge. Both are 10 inch, both are 2nd stage filters, and both should be replaced every 3 months.
Can I use a GAC filter without an RO membrane?
GAC improves taste and smell but does not disinfect water. The label warns against using it with water that is microbiologically unsafe. For safe drinking water, use it as part of a complete RO plant.
Where can I buy the Classic Pure GAC filter in Multan?
At our head office on Akbar Road, Tipu Sultan Colony, Multan. Call 0302-1635555 or 061-4544442. Our Multan technicians can also replace the filter at your home.
Do you deliver the GAC filter to Lahore, Karachi and other cities?
Yes. We deliver across Pakistan with cash on delivery. In Lahore you can also visit our Feroz Pur Road branch.
