- Crystal (this product): Best for indoor installation, away from direct sunlight. The transparent body lets you visually check cartridge condition at a glance — but transparent housings exposed to sunlight can allow light-driven algae growth inside over time.
- Blue, standard housing: Best for open areas exposed to sunlight — the opaque body blocks light entirely, preventing algae growth regardless of installation location.
If your installation spot gets direct or indirect sunlight at any point in the day, choose the blue version instead. If it's installed indoors, in a cabinet, or somewhere shielded from light, the crystal version is the better choice for its visibility advantage.
