The Axtron 0.3 Micron PPF Filter Cartridge is the first stage of your water filter or RO plant. It's made from polypropylene (PPF) and traps dust, rust, sand and fine mud particles before they reach the carbon cartridges and the RO membrane. It weighs 180 grams, the top weight grade of 10 inch PPF filter available in the market, and it is made in Vietnam. It fits every standard 10 inch water filter and RO plant housing. Why Weight Matters When You Buy a PPF Filter

Most PPF filters look the same from the outside, but the amount of material inside them varies a lot. In the Pakistani market, 10 inch PPF filters are sold in different weights:

• 80 grams
• 100 grams
• 130 grams
• 160 grams
• 180 grams

A heavier PPF cartridge has more polypropylene packed into the same 10 inch size. More material means:

• Better cleaning: a denser filter catches finer particles.
• Longer working life: there is more material to hold dirt before the cartridge chokes.

What a PPF Sediment Filter Removes

The 0.3 micron rating means the cartridge is made to catch very fine particles. It removes:

• Dust and dirt
• Rust from old pipes and tanks
• Sand and fine mud (silt)

What it does not do matters just as much, because each stage in your system has its own job:

• Smell and taste: removed by the carbon cartridges (GAC and CTO)
• Bacteria: removed by a UF membrane
• TDS and salts: removed by the RO membrane

The PPF filter's job is to stop dirt so these later stages can do their work and last longer.

In a 3-stage water filter, there are two common setups:

• PPF + GAC + CTO: for clear water that has taste or smell problems
• PPF + PPF + CTO: for water with heavy sediment, mud or rust. Here a second PPF goes in the second stage for extra cleaning.

When to Replace Your PPF Filter

In our field experience, a PPF filter needs changing every 15–30 days. The exact time depends on how much dirt, mud and rust is in your water. Boring water and old tank supplies usually clog it faster.

The easiest way to know is to look at it. A new cartridge is white. When the whole cartridge has turned brown or dark with dirt, it is fully used and must be changed. A transparent 10 inch housing  lets you check this without opening anything.

Two more points from our service team:

• If your filter has been unused for a long time, replace all cartridges before using it again. Water left standing in the housings goes stale and starts to smell, and housings left empty dry the cartridges out.
• For non-electric water filters, use normal pressure from your overhead tank. Never connect the filter directly to a motor or pump line.
